#1. The Banking Recruitment Ecosystem in India
Banking recruitment operates on India's most predictable and clockwork-fast schedule. Conducted by IBPS and State Bank of India, notifications typically result in final appointments within 6 to 8 months.
Unlike government exams with generous time allotments, bank exams test processing speed, pressure management, and question selection under aggressive sectional timers (20 minutes per section in Prelims).
#2. Cracking Prelims: Speed Math & Reasoning Shortcuts
Prelims requires scoring 60–75 marks out of 100 within just 60 minutes (20 minutes each for English, Quant, Reasoning):
- Speed Maths (15 Marks guaranteed in 5 mins): Memorize tables up to 30, squares up to 50, cubes up to 30, and fraction-to-percentage conversions (1/1 to 1/20). Master simplification, approximation, number series, and quadratic equations.
- Data Interpretation (DI): Practice Tabular DI, Bar Graph, Pie Chart, and Caselet DI daily. Calculate percentages and ratios mentally rather than writing lengthy equations.
- Reasoning Puzzles & Seating Arrangements: Covers 20 to 25 marks. Practice 4 sets daily: Circular, Linear (single/double row), Box-based, Floor & Flat, and Month-Date puzzles. Learn when to skip a lengthy puzzle and pick standalone questions (Syllogisms, Inequality, Coding) first.
- English Language: Focus on Cloze Test, Reading Comprehension, Error Spotting, and Sentence Rearrangement. Attempt 25+ questions with high accuracy.
#3. Mains Preparation: General & Financial Awareness
Over 70% of candidates who clear Prelims fail in Mains because they postpone General Awareness (GA) until after Prelims results. You have barely 15 to 20 days between Prelims results and Mains.
Prepare daily notes covering the last 5 to 6 months of banking news, RBI circulars, repo rate changes, monetary policy updates, Union Budget allocations, and national affairs.
#4. Sectional Cutoff & Time Allocation Tactics
In IBPS PO and Clerk exams, candidates must clear both the overall cutoff and individual sectional cutoffs. Missing a single section's cutoff by 0.25 marks results in rejection despite a high aggregate score.
(Note: SBI PO and SBI Clerk do not have sectional cutoffs, but maintaining balanced performance across sections is essential to meet the high overall cutoff).
Over 65% of government application rejections happen due to oversized or wrong aspect ratio photos. Resize your photograph to 20KB–50KB and signature to 10KB–20KB in your browser with zero upload.
