#1. Understanding CTET Paper 1 & Paper 2 Architecture
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by CBSE is the mandatory qualifying certification for teaching appointments across Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVS), Central Tibetan Schools, DSSSB (Delhi), and private schools across India.
Paper 1 certifies eligibility for Primary Teacher (Classes 1 to 5), while Paper 2 certifies eligibility for Elementary / Upper Primary Teacher (Classes 6 to 8). Candidates holding D.El.Ed / B.Ed can appear for either or both papers.
#2. The Key to 120+ Marks: Child Development & Pedagogy (CDP)
CDP is the backbone of CTET. It carries 30 direct marks in its own section, plus 15 pedagogical questions in every other subject (Maths, EVS, Languages), making pedagogy account for 90 out of 150 total marks:
- Development Theories: Jean Piaget (Cognitive Development Stages), Lev Vygotsky (Zone of Proximal Development & Scaffolding), and Lawrence Kohlberg (Moral Development Stages). At least 6–8 questions come directly from these three theorists.
- Inclusive Education & Children with Special Needs (CWSN): Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, ADHD, and Gifted Children identification.
- Child-Centered Learning: Never choose an option that promotes rote memorization, punishment, rigid tests, or passive teacher lecture. Always select answers that encourage student exploration, hands-on activities, and constructive dialogue.
#3. Subject Strategy for Paper 1 (Primary)
Environmental Studies (EVS): 15 content marks come straight from NCERT Class 3, 4, and 5 textbooks. Read chapters on Animals (Elephants, Sloth, Tiger senses), Plants (Desert Oak, Pitcher Plant), Food preservation, and Shelter (Ladakh houses, Changpa tribe, houseboat).
Mathematics: 15 content marks are basic arithmetic, shapes, patterns, money, and measurements. The 15 pedagogy marks focus on Van Hiele levels of geometric thinking and error analysis.
Language 1 and Language 2: Choose your stronger language as Language 1 (which features a poetry passage + prose) and secondary language as Language 2 (two prose passages).
#4. The Zero-Negative-Marking Advantage
CTET has NO negative marking. Every question carries 1 mark. You must attempt all 150 questions.
Qualifying marks: General category requires 60% (90 out of 150 marks). Reserved categories (OBC, SC, ST, PwD) require 55% (82.5 rounded to 82 marks). CTET certificate now carries lifetime validity.
